Description
After the Articles of Confederation proved inadequate to govern the emerging Union, leaders like Washington, Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton called for a convention to create a new form of government. After the Constitution was written, Washington would create the office of the President of the United States and set the precedent for all future presidents.
