Domenikos Theotokopoulos, better known as El Greco, was a painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. Often described as Mannerist, El Greco’s style is characterized by elongated forms, unearthly, flickering illumination and emotional intensity. A widely popular old master and at the same time proto-modern, El Greco’s creations are truly individual.
