During World War II over 15,000 German and Italian prisoners of war (POWs) came to Missouri and lived in 30 camps scattered across the state. This presentation focuses on the responses of Missourians, both regular citizens and "officials," when they encountered the en-
emy and how they treated the foe held in a weak and helpless position.
