Join two Washington University Alzheimer’s researchers to learn about Aging Research Characterizing Health Equity via Social determinants (ARCHES) is an innovative study that measures how factors like depression, stress, and discrimination may increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease among African Americans. Despite the growing older adult population and epidemiological studies suggesting that Blacks are at twice the risk of developing AD compared to Whites, and Blacks are severely underrepresented in AD research. This study aims to create a representative sample of Black participants and examine how the environment, social interactions, access to resources, and health disparities contribute to a greater risk of dementia.
