Begun in 1849, Bellefontaine Cemetery has a long history that parallels St. Louis, the Region, the State, and the Nation. Fur traders, explorers, capitalists, suffragists, and many involved with the Civil War call Bellefontaine Cemetery their place of final rest. Our ‘General Tour’ will highlight many of the most notable men and women who left their mark on our history. The cemetery gives a picturesque setting with monuments and stately trees as a backdrop for those covered in this program.
