Description
A jazz giant in every sense, Canadian virtuoso Oscar Peterson was the dominant pianist of his time. In a career spanning more than six decades, Peterson played with every significant jazz artist and recorded more than 200 albums, winning eight Grammy Awards in the process. Peterson was a composer as well as an improviser of genius, and Duke Ellington rightly dubbed him the ‘Maharaja of Piano’. Instructor Paul Thompson will present an inspiring survey of this piano master’s work from the pyrotechnical to the profoundly soulful, illustrated with thought-provoking interviews, and testimony of those who knew and worked with him.
