’59 was the prelude to the Sixties and all that happened throughout the decade that changed much of our culture. From the perspective of 1959, the year everything changed, we’ll talk about this transformative time in our history; in the world, the country, and St. Louis. The tornado of February ’59 created the mind-altering Gaslight Square, and the great downtown shopping district was at the edge of ultimate oblivion. Then the movie ‘On The Beach’ reminded us that we were still on the verge of potential decimation.
