Description

Learn about the mysterious underground world of St. Louis. Our city is over the largest  labyrinth of limestone caverns of any city on Earth. In this dark underworld, there are also springs, a river, coal and clay mines, tunnels twisting through downtown and natural springs that are flowing to this day. Discuss how the caverns were used for breweries and wineries, and how the mines once provided coal to fire furnaces.  Learn about the spring that fed the ill-fated Chouteau’s Pond and the places used for illicit activities during prohibition.
