The archaeology of Missouri provides one of the most exciting overviews of an ancient past. Not surprising, Missouri is a focus of major cultural developments, especially during the last 10,000 years. Because we are at the confluence of the two largest river systems, it was a crossroad in pre-Columbian times for the American Indian people – the First Nations.
