Description

The Incas built the largest and most sophisticated empire in the pre-colonial Americas, and did so in a harsh environment. Based in the Cuzco Valley in modern Peru, the Empire stretched from modern day Ecuador to Chile. The Incas tied this huge state together with a well organized system of administration. While the Incas could field armies of thousands and move them over stone roads & suspension bridges, their empire fell to a small force of Spanish Conquistadors.
