Description
This class will explore the history of U.S. relations with Japan and Germany, the events that led to Pearl Harbor, and the U.S. role in North Africa, D-Day, and Germany’s last desperate offensive at the Battle of the Bulge. Additionally, the course will delve into the broader geopolitical and economic factors influencing these relationships, the strategies and tactics employed by military leaders, and the impact of these events on the global stage. Students will examine primary and secondary sources, engage in critical discussions, and analyze the lasting effects of World War II on modern international relations and policy. The course will also cover the aftermath of the war, including the reconstruction of Japan and Germany, the emergence of the Cold War, and the establishment of new global institutions and alliances.
